Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday said that it was the responsibility of the engineers to see that water from the projects, which were constructed with a lot of hard work, should be lifted from time to time and fill the barrages.

KCR said water should flow from Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) to Kaleshwaram project, barrages, reservoirs, lift irrigation pumps and canals so that farmers of the last acre under the ayacut are benefitted from it. The CM wanted strengthening of the engineering network and if need be, they should use wireless network like the police.

He wanted the entire Kaleshwaram Team to have awareness on which motor was working when, which pump was releasing water, how much water should be lifted? When the supply be stopped? If work is done with proper coordination, Godavari water can be utilised cent percent, he said.

The Chief Minister gave these instructions to the engineering team during his visit to the Kaleshwaram project on Thursday. He also visited Godavari ghat near Kaleshwara-Muktheshwara temple at Triveni Sangham (confluence of Godavari, Pranahita, Saraswati rivers).

He instructed Engineer-in-Chiefs Muralidhar Rao, N Venkateswarlu and OSD Sridhar Deshpande to ensure that flood waters during the coming monsoon should be lifted from the Laxmi Barrage.

He also explained the priorities of government in the irrigation sector to the newly appointed Irrigation Principal Secretary Rajat Kumar and asked him to ensure speedy completion of works in coordinated manner.
