Hyderabad: TRS MP Nama Nageshwara Rao said on Tuesday that by implementing various schemes, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao transformed Mahatma Gandhi's vision of' Gram Swaraj' to reality.

Speaking on Tuesday's Motion of Thanks for Presidential Address in Lok Sabha, Nageshwara Rao explained various schemes being put in place by the Telangana Government for farmers ' welfare and development. He said thousands of villages in the country still lack basic services after more than 70 years of independence. He said the state government initiated' Palle Pragathi ' program to recognise and resolve the problems faced by people in the village.

Nageshwara Rao claimed the state government had procured 10,500 tractors for each village in Telangana and distributed them on the tractor. So far, he said, 6017 tractors had already been given to villages, while 4,000 more tractors would soon arrive. He said that permanent structures were built across Telangana for cremation grounds. Nearly 12,751 nurseries were also established in the village, he said. Almost crores of saplings were planted on either side of the highways and roads, he said. Furthermore, there were as many as 9,953 dry borewells closed and buildings demolished in dilapidated conditions. Villages are provided with safe drinking water under 'Mission Bhagiratha' Scheme.

Speaking of the Center's proposal to double farmers ' income by 2022, the TRS MP listed the' Rythu Bandhu ' scheme that provided farmers with Rs. 10,000 annual investment support per acre. This scheme inspired the Central Government that later launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) providing farmers with income support of Rs.6000/- per annum.
