Kendriya Vidyalayas take up inspection of buildings
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVs) has taken up structural auditing of the buildings in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools (KVS) across the country as part of implementing the ‘Safe Classroom.’
Hyderabad: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVs) has taken up structural auditing of the buildings in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools (KVS) across the country as part of implementing the 'Safe Classroom.'
According to the KVS officials, the structural auditing of the school buildings had been taken up as part of ensuring the safety of the students studying in the KVS.
Under the initiative schools, buildings of more than 10 years old had been identified for auditing to figure out whether the buildings needed repairs to ensure that they are fit for running classes and other activities of the schools.
The structural auditing has been taken up following instructions from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) ahead of starting of the current academic session.
"In all 21 school buildings have been identified across the country which was found unsafe for the students. The buildings are either needed special repairs or complete replacement like constructing a new structure in their place.
Further, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan has asked the schools to identify unsafe building and not to conduct any classes in those buildings.
Until the repairs are completed, based on the availability of safe classes in the building, "the heads of the schools were asked to conduct classes of primary, secondary and higher secondary departments to operate at different times," the officials added.
