The continuous rain since Sunday night has disrupted normal life and inundated paddy crop, roads and also a few colonies in the erstwhile Khamamm district.
Khammam: The continuous rain since Sunday night has disrupted normal life and inundated paddy crop, roads and also a few colonies in the erstwhile Khamamm district.
Due to uninterrupted downpour, several tanks and small streams were overflowing on roads and fields were submerged in many places in the district.
Road connectivity from Aswapuram to Bhadrachalam was cut off as Kadiyalabuddi tank was overflowing on the road.
As many as 70 double bedroom houses in Karapalli mandal headquarters were inundated in rainwater and several houses in Indiramma Colony in Wyra town were submerged while a few colonies were surrounded by rainwater.
Locals rescued a lorry driver and cleaner, when the lorry they were travelling, fell into Pagideru lake in Konijerla mandal. The idols of Lord Sri Ramchandra Swamy and His Consort Sita Devi were inundated in water as Seetamma Vagu was overflowing at Parnasala in Dummagudem mandal on Monday.
An old tree fell down on the road at Rajapet Colony near Bhadrachalam town due to heavy rains. Paddy farmers were worried as rainwater entered the fields in Tallada and Kalluru mandals.
