Khammam: Tributes paid to Jyotirao Phule

Khammam: The 129th death anniversary of Jyotirao Phule was observed by various organizations across the district on Thursday.

In a programme organised by the Kula Vivakshatha Porata Samithi (KVPS) in Kothagudem on the day, the members of the Samithi, after paying tributes, recalled the services of Phule to the society and added that he had fought for the eradication of social evils and took steps to improve the education system in the country.

Phule also worked for the emancipation of women and fought against the discrimination of lower caste people by the upper castes, they said. Members of the Samithi P Ravi, M Muthaiah, Ramesh, J Satish, Siva, Shareef, Nageswara Rao, Srinivas, and Madhu attended the programme.
