Mahbubnagar: With the call given by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Revanth Reddy, many Congress leaders from Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool and Gadwal districts tried to take out rallies and tried to reach Hyderabad to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan as a mark of protest supporting the RTC strike.

However, the police officials took all the Congress leaders into preventive custody and shifted them to police stations and foiled their attempts to reach Hyderabad on Monday.

In Kottur mandal of Shandnagar constituency, the local police took some of the Congress party leaders who were on their way to Hyderabad to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan into custody.

The police have arrested Congress senior leaders Kadempally Srinivas Goud, Kottur mandal Congress president Gudem Sudarshan, Timmapur MPTC Rajender Goud SB Pally Sarpanch Ambati Bhaskar.

Apart from these leaders, other Congress party members who were taken into police custody included Harinath Reddy, Shekar Reddy, Jangaiah, Narasimha Reddy and others.

All these leaders were shifted to Kottur police station under preventive detention. "KCR is behaving like a dictator and he is using the police force to suppress the voices of opposition leaders. The people of the State will teach a lesson to the Chief Minister and the RTC strike is the first step in KCR's downfall," said Kadempally Srinivas Goud.

In Kodangal mandal also, the Congress party leaders who tried to go on a rally to Hyderabad were arrested by the police and were shifted to Kodangal police station.

Similar arrests were also seen in Wanaparthy, Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar and Narayanpet districts.
