Mahbubnagar: The State government had sanctioned Rs 99.22 crore for the establishment of 12,000 agriculture processing platforms in villages across the district for the benefit of the farmers.

During a meeting with District Collectors on Tuesday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had approved to sanction 1,000 agriculture platforms to each constituency across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. According to the district agriculture officials, each agriculture platform costs around Rs 46,000.

At present, there are 12 constituencies under Palamuru limits. If each constituency gets 1,000 agriculture platforms, then each constituency will get Rs 4.6 crore. District Collector Yasmin Basha said earlier farmers used to dry, cleanse, process their harvest on roads as there are no proper platforms for doing all these works. But this created traffic problems and, on many occasions, fatal accidents also occurred. To avoid all these problems, the State government has decided to construct agriculture platforms. For Wanaparthy district, the government has sanctioned Rs 15.62 crore to establish agriculture platforms, she informed.

It's said the agriculture platforms are being constructed by the government under MGNREGA scheme, where the workers from villages are roped in to take up the construction. The government had sanctioned Rs 31.24 crore for Nagarkurnool; Rs 19.36 crore for Mahbubnagar; Rs 15 crore for Gadwal; and Rs 18 crore for Narayanpet district.
