Mahbubnagar: Kurumurthy Jatara, also known as 'Poor man's Tirupathi' festivities will begin from November 19, Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkat Reddy said.

He urged the visiting pilgrims to follow Covid-19 norms strictly to ensure every devotee will have Lord's darshan in a safe and healthy environment.

Along with local public representatives and officials of

revenue and other departments, the MLA inspected the arrangements for the Jatara in

Chinna Chintakunta mandal of Devarkadra constituency

on Tuesday.

The MLA said under normal conditions, two to three lakh devotees from Telangana and also other States will come to the jatara. But this year, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the rush might be less, he observed. He urged that every devotee must wear mask, maintain social distancing and must undergo health check-up before taking darshan.

The organisers will celebrate Uddala festival on November 20, on which the deity will be decorated in various forms. During these two days, there is a possibility of lakhs of devotees to visit the temple. Unlike earlier, the organisers have not permitted stalls and shops and installed sanitizing fans at the entrance and health checkup centre.
