Mahbubnagar: Post lockdown relaxation from May 27, the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district witnessed growing number of corona positive cases. According to statistics provided by District Health and Medical officials, as many as 30 positive cases were registered in just 12 days, causing a grave concern among the public.
During lockdown from March 23 to May 27, except Wanaparthy district, the four districts of Nagarkurnool, Gadwal, Narayanpet and Mahbubnagar, witnessed about 59 corona positive cases. Of them, two patients died, and 57 infected persons were recovered. From April 23 till the end of May, erstwhile Mahbubnagar witnessed zero cases and the government even declared the entire Palamuru region as green zone. However, post lockdown relaxation norms, in just 12 days from May 27 till date, 30 new positive cases surfaced causing panic among both public and district administration.
Nagarkurnool DM&HO Sudhakarlal said post lockdown, it is the responsibility of the public to take care of themselves from getting infected with the virus. Health department is taking all measures to provide treatment to the infected at district hospitals and moving all those in contact with the infected to quarantine, he said.
After a gap of 40 days, first case came to light in Jeklair village of Makthal mandal in Narayanpet district, where a 3-month-old baby got infected from his father and she succumbed while undergoing treatment at Nilopher children's hospital in Hyderabad.
A youth of Gudeballur village in Krishna mandal of Narayanpet district was confirmed corona positive. Since then, in just 12 days from May 27 to June 9, 30 Covid-19 positive cases were registered in various regions of erstwhile Mahbubnagar district.
Till date, entire Palamuru region has witnessed 89 positive cases, of which eight succumbed to the deadly virus.
As per the latest statistics available from the health department of all five districts, Gadwal has witnessed 46 cases, of which one died. Mahbubnagar has 28 positive cases no deaths and Nagarkurnool district has 11 positive cases, of them five died while undergoing treatment. In Narayanpet district, so far three cases were registered, of them two died.
Wanaparthy, which was in green zone throughout lockdown, has one positive case a week ago, who was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment, post lockdown.
