Suryapet: Two contractors of Mission Bhagiratha with their family members demanding payment of pending dues threatened to commit suicide before the Mission Bhagiratha Office in Suryapet town on Tuesday.

According to victim contractors Anand Rao and Shankar, they took sub-contract from GVPR Company and constructed two water tanks of capacity 40,000 kilolitres with an estimated cost of Rs 1.40 crore at Kusumavarigudem of Penpahad mandal in the district.

They got Rs 80 lakh from the main contractors and were making rounds to GVPR Company and Mission Bhagiratha Office in Suryapet for payment of due amount of Rs 46 lakh. However, nothing has been done in this regard.

Alleging that Mission Bhagiratha Deputy Engineer Suresh by colluding with GVPR Company has been harassing them by not recording works taken up by them, the contractors long with their family members threatened to kill themselves by dousing in petrol. However, police, who were at the spot, foiled their attempt and presented them before the officials of Mission Bhagiratha office for resolving the issue in an amicable way.
