Mission five lakh majority

Warangal: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is riding high on the success of its recent outings has set its eyes to get five lakh majority in the ensuing election to Warangal Parliamentary constituency.

Of late especially since their resounding victory in Assembly polls, the TRS leaders started to talk about leads.

A few days ago, KTR threw a friendly challenge at T Harish Rao, stating that TRS nominee in Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency would get a majority of not less than five lakh votes.

Such was the kind of bonhomie the TRS leaders were expecting in the Lok Sabha elections.

Warangal TRS leaders, who are oozing with confidence after their mega success in Assembly elections, are also no different when it comes to the target of securing a thumping majority in Warangal Lok Sabha seat this time as well for its candidate Pasunuri Dayakar.

It may be recalled here that Dayakar trounced his nearest rival Congress' Sarve Satyanarayana by 4,59,092 votes in 2015 by-poll eclipsing the previous record (3.93 lakh) set by his predecessor Kadiyam Srihari in 2014 elections.

Apparently, the TRS, which won six out of the seven Assembly segments of the Warangal Parliamentary constituency, is buoyant and wants to extend its winning streak in the Lok Sabha polls as well.

The TRS, which reaped political harvest through its welfare schemes initiated in the first term, believes that another electoral success is not a distant dream; especially with its main opponent Congress lacking the pace to match that of TRS'.

This has led the TRS party leaders to think of big margins in the Lok Sabha polls.

Not just sticking to imaginary estimations, the district top brass led by Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao is leaving no stone unturned to get five lakh majority.

The district leadership which sensed complacency among its cadres has started organising booth, village and Assembly constituency level meetings so that keep party workers on toes until April 11 polls.

The party planned coordination meetings at constituency level from March 26 to 31 in which all the MLAs and other important leaders will take part.

On the other hand, the MLAs of six Assembly segments that come under Warangal Lok Sabha seat appeared to be tense.

The MLAs and other senior leaders aspiring for a place in the next expansion of KCR Cabinet want to prove a point or two by increasing the majority in their constituencies.

They fear that even an iota of complacency could well spell doom on their chances of getting plum posts.

Even those Corporators who are aspiring for the post of Mayor are also making their presence felt in every party meeting.

"With still six minister posts up for grab in addition to many nominated posts, obviously the leaders are leaving no opportunity to impress their supremo, KCR. This is where KCR scores a few brownie points over his political rivals. He knows how to extract results from his cadre," a senior TRS leader told The Hans India.
