With the denizens flocking to their native villages in the State and in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to cast their votes, the vehicles got stranded at toll plazas on Hyderabad–Vijayawada and Hyderabad-Warangal highways on Wednesday night forcing the motorists to wait for hours to get through the toll plazas

Nalgonda/Bhongir: Long queues have been witnessed at Panthangi and Korlapahad toll plazas on Hyderabad–Vijayawada national highway and Gudur toll plaza of Hyderabad-Warangal highway till Wednesday midnight as people from Hyderabad started to travel to their native places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to cast their votes for the Lok Sabha elections, to be conducted on Thursday.

Vehicles that were stranded for over a kilometer length have forced the passengers to wait for more than an hour to cross the toll plazas.

A majority of vehicle owners felt that government should have cancelled the toll tax for the convenience of people which was done during the Sankranti festival. A few passengers complained that taking the advantage, a few private transporters have hiked the price of tickets from 50 to 100 per cent to earn extra money in the name of poll day.
