Hyderabad: Members of Parliament from different Lok Sabha constituencies and Rajya Sabha have stressed on the need to speed up the implementation of the railway projects in Telangana.

Participating in the meeting, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said that the MPs have given several representations for various proposals and the same will be discussed with the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel for their early implementation.

The minister said that works of the Cherlapally terminal have been fast-tracked as its completion will reduce the burden on the Hyderabad, Kacheguda and Secunderabad railway stations.

Though it was proposed to construct the terminal spaciously, "due to lack of non-allocation of lands by the State government the terminal will only be constructed in an extent of 50 acres," he said.

Works to the tune of Rs 81 crore inner ring roads connectivity are undergoing, and the State government has so far not given its share for the Ghatkesar-Raigir railway line.

Further, Rs 815 crore meant for the MMTS second phase is pending as the State government is yet to release its share of funds. The MPs found that several new lines are pending as the State is not able to release its share of funds and allocation of lands required for the works.

Kishan Reddy said that the Centre has allocated 94 per cent more funds to the State than the earlier allocations. For the expansion of railways, the Centre has allocated Rs 1,813 core to Telangana, he said and added that the execution of the railway works in the State will be fast-tracked to provide maximum rail connectivity.
