Nagarkurnool: Celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day, BJP urges State government
The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Bijinepally mandal of Nagarkurnool district on Friday took out a rally and later submitted a representation to the Bijinepally Tahasildar, stressing their demand that the State government should celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17, marking the annexation of Hyderabad into Indian Union.
Nagarkurnool: The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Bijinepally mandal of Nagarkurnool district on Friday took out a rally and later submitted a representation to the Bijinepally Tahasildar, stressing their demand that the State government should celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17, marking the annexation of Hyderabad into Indian Union.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagarkurnool district BJP president Basireddy Subbareddy said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi which had earlier promised to celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17, had however, soon after coming to power, had gone back on its promise. The State government doesn't want to celebrate the day to appease the Muslim community and get their votes.
"TRS is adopting double standards just to appease a section of community for their votes. What is wrong if they celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation day? Why is the government going back on its promise it made during Telangana movement?" questioned Bangaru Shruthi, BJP Nagarkurnool MP-nominated candidate, while taking out a rally. The BJP leaders submitted a representation to the Bijinepally Tahsildar asking him to forward their representation to the government and celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day.
Nagarkurnool constituency in-charge Dilip Chary said that after hundreds of years of suppressed rule of Nizam, with the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Kingdom of Hyderabad was included in the Indian Union on September 17, 1948. This was the day when the people of Telangana were truly liberated and it has to be celebrated grandly. However, the TRS government which favoured the Liberation Day celebrations during the Telangana movement, was now going back just to appease a section of the society.
