Nalgonda: In response to an emergency call to protest against brutal attack on a junior doctor at NRS Hospital in Kolkata, the members of IMA Neelagiri on Friday conducted a road show at Clock Tower in Nalgonda.

Doctors, who addressed the passers-by, condemned the frequent physical attacks on doctors for death of patients during treatment. Not only in Kolkata, physical attacks were witnessed in Telangana too with doctors of and other private hospitals being victims.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pulla Rao said doctors were to serve patients and relieve them of suffering by treating the disease with care. Citizens should understand this and cooperate with doctors, and should not take law into their hands.

Addressing media, IMA State Council Member Dr Jayaprakash Reddy appealed to the Central government for bringing in special central act to contain violence against doctors and other health professionals.

Later, an IMA delegation met District Collector Dr Gaurav Uppal, who himself a doctor, and gave a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister, Union Home and Health ministers to be forwarded to them.

Doctors Vijayakumar, Raji Reddy, Daivadheenam, Srinivas, Ramesh, Venu, Murthy, Venkat Reddy and others were part of IMA delegation that called on the Collector.
