Nallamala Parirakshana Committee stages protest against Uranium mining in Nagarkurnool

Nagarkurnool: The members of Nallamala Parirakshana Committee took out a huge rally in Achampet mandal of Nagarkurnool district on Thursday and raised slogans against the State and the Central governments for coming out with such a proposal of Uranium mining and destroy the peaceful and most-valuable ecological environment of Nallamala forest.

The Committee members demanded the Central government to shun away from its proposal of mining Uranium from the Nallamala region. "If the proposal of the Central government to mine Uranium from the Nallamala region is implemented, it would a great disaster to the flora and fauna of the region. Uranium is a radioactive element and if the government starts its mining, it will not only destroy the ecology in the region but it will also cause a grave danger to the health of the people in the surrounding region," said the members of Parirakshana committee while taking part in the protest rally.
