Narsampet: Lift Irrigation Scheme to irrigate 14K acres say MLAs Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy
The Rs 43 crore lift irrigation scheme under construction at Konaimakula village under Geesukonda mandal would soon be completed, Narsampet and Parkal MLAs Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy said.
Narsampet (Warangal Rural): The Rs 43 crore lift irrigation scheme under construction at Konaimakula village under Geesukonda mandal would soon be completed, Narsampet and Parkal MLAs Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and Challa Dharma Reddy said. The legislators, who inspected the progress of works on Friday, said that the lift scheme was aimed at irrigating at least 14,000 acres in Geesukonda (7,500 acres), Sangem (2,000 acres) and Duggondi (4,500 acres) mandals.
Stating that the construction of the pump house was nearing completion, the MLAs expressed confidence that the lift scheme will be operationalised by the time farmers prepare for Rabi. All the tanks and kuntas will also be filled drawing water from lift. The legislators said that they have ensured payment to farmers, who lost their land under the lift scheme by speaking to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
"Farmers were in dire straits in the united Andhra Pradesh with the successive governments ignoring agriculture sector. The then governments were known for notoriety as they never cared for the land oustees. However, the situation is different since the TRS assumed power in Telangana. The TRS government had initiated several schemes for the welfare of the farmers, and to make agriculture viable," the legislators said.
The officials were told to complete the land acquisition required for the lift scheme. The MLAs thanked the farmers, who gave away their lands and urged the others to cooperate with the government for the completion of lift scheme.
Zilla Parishad vice-chairperson Akula Srinivas, Geesukonda ZPTC Police Dharma Rao and SRSP officials were among others present.
