New project on Krishna: Telangana government to fight against AP in Supreme Court
Taking strong exception to the Andhra Pradesh government's recent decision to construct new project on river Krishna, Telangana government has decided to fight a legal battle against the neighbouring State in the Supreme Court
Hyderabad: Taking strong exception to the Andhra Pradesh government's recent decision to construct new project on river Krishna, Telangana government has decided to fight a legal battle against the neighbouring State in the Supreme Court.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday night held a meeting with top irrigation officials and discussed the proposals prepared by the AP government for the construction of new project without consulting the TS government .
The CM was serious on AP for taking unilateral decision in the utilisation of Krishna water which attracted the violation of AP Reorganisation Act.
The AP government has issued an order recently to take up a project with 3 TMC capacity by lifting water from Srisailam project.
The TS government questioned the AP decision without taking the consent of the apex council and the Krishna River Management Board ( KRMB).
The Chief Minister instructed the officials to lodge a complaint with the KRMB against Andhra government. As per the reorganisation act , the two States of Andhra and Telangana will have to seek the permission of the apex council to construct New projects on Krishna.
The proposed project will deprive Telangana of its share of water in Krishna, the Chief Minister said in the meeting.
