Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the Centre has not given single rupee for the State government's project Mission Kakatiya even after the Niti Aayog adjudged that this was selected under 'Best Practices in Water Management'.

The minister was replying to a question by TRS member P Sudarshan Reddy, who sought details of Mission Kakatiya project during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Wednesday.

Harish Rao said that 21,275 tanks were restored and 14.15 lakh acres ayacut was stabilised under the program. He also said that Niti Aayog in its August 2017 report 'Selected Best Practices in Water Management', has mentioned Mission Kakatiya benefits.

He said that the program was also praised by British Commonwealth Parliamentary delegation, which had witnessed the tanks at Medak and the National Geographic channel too had done a story on the Mission Kakatiya. The minister mentioned that the Niti Aayog had also suggested funding this program by the Centre.

However, there was not even single rupee support to the program by the Centre, he said. He said that target of the chief minister is to see every lake is filled with water. He asked the members to bring to the notice of the government if there is any further need for restoring the tanks.
