Hyderabad: No distribution of fish prasadam this year in Hyderabad in the view of coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing lockdown, announced the Bathini family on Sunday. It is known the fish prasadam is distributed annually by the Bathini Goud family to the asthma patients in June every year.

However, due to the coronavirus crisis, the event is cancelled this year, said Bathini Goud. This is the first time in many decades that the family cancelled the fish distribution.

Every year, lakhs of people throng to the Nampally exhibition grounds on 'Mrigashira Karthi' to take the medicine which is given to the Asthma patients across the country. The event will be held on two days every year.

"It is difficult to maintain physical distance and control the lakhs of patients during the distribution," Bathini Goud said. Bathini Harinath Goud, the head of the family appealed to the people not to believe any rumours on the conduct of fish distribution. He also asked the people not to come to the city on June 8 and 9.
