Nagarkurnool: A labourer working under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme died due to sunstroke in Sainipally village of Bijinepally mandal on Tuesday.

According to villagers, Cheviti Krishnaiah (45), of Sainipally employed as MGNREGA worker, had gone out early in the morning to take up works on the outskirts of the village. With the temperatures being high, Krishnaiah felt exhausted and after feeling uneasiness, he returned to his home.

As soon as he reached home, he complained of severe headache and fell unconscious. The worried family members rushed Krishnaiah to the Bijinepally primary healthcare centre, where he was declared brought dead. The doctors said that his death could have been caused due to sunstroke. To ascertain the cause of the death, they sent the body for post-mortem.
