SVS Medical College Hospital launches workshop for its trainee doctors

Mahbubnagar: Launching the workshop on the orthopaedic knee and joint replacement related treatment training workshop at SVS Medical College Hospital on Tuesday, leading healthcare expert Dr Jonathan Saluta from Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, USA, who took part as the Chief guest to the event, said that only 15 per cent of population were aware of the availability of orthopaedic, knee and joint replacement related treatments in India.

"In India, 80 per cent of population above 50 years of age are suffering with joint and knee related problems. However, only 15 per cent of them are aware of the advanced treatment available. While in USA, the awareness the treatment is very high and more than 50 per cent population who are prone to the knee and joint-related issues get treatment at early stage," observed Dr Jonathan.

According to organisers of the workshop, the main objective of the workshop was to spread awareness about the advanced treatment available to the public in the rural areas and at the same time provide hands on experience to the trainee doctors, who will get acquainted with new treatment techniques and latest trends going on in the management of knee and joint related issues in the patients.

Recently, the SVS Medical Hospital had launched Joint Replacement Centre, and now the hospital administration is planning to collaborate with the experts from Good Samaritan Hospital in order to provide training to young trainee doctors. "We are looking forward to collaborate with the Joint Replacement Centre and hoping to provide advanced treatment training to the young doctors," said the expert from USA.

Dr KJ Reddy, Managing Director, SVS Medical Hospital, observed that these kinds of workshops help in training the resident doctors and trainees and help equip them with new techniques, and also to create an awareness among the people about the current trends in treatment and different management options. He also stated such technical workshops would help and benefit the people of Mahbubnagar district as they can get access to latest advanced medical treatment procedure at their own place.
