Hyderabad: With a hope to win maximum number of Mandal Parishad and Zilla Parishad chairperson seats, the main political parties are taking up all the measures to ensure success.
The election to the chairpersons of MPPs and ZPs would be held on June 7 and 8 respectively. The 538 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members would elect 32 ZP chairperson and 5,857 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) members would elect 538 Mandal Parishad chairpersons.
The counting of votes for the ZPTC and MPTC elections would be held on June 4 and results would be declared on the same day. The notices to elect the chairpersons for ZPs and MPPs would be issued on June 6 and 7.
The main political parties including the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are preparing for the counting of votes and the elections of chairpersons. They have contested to all the MPTC and ZPTCs seats.
The three parties are exuding confidence on winning the MPPs and ZPs. Though the Congress and BJP did not have confidence on winning the rural local body polls, before the Parliament elections, now they have been showing some confidence with the announcement of the results of the Parliament polls.
According to sources, the Congress and BJP feel that the people have lost confidence in the ruling party and they may have voted against them.
The BJP and Congress have been expecting to win majority ZPTCs and MPTCs in the Zilla Parishads and Mandal Parishads.
They have been taking measures to see that their chairperson candidates win the indirect election to the ZPs and MPPs. Particularly, the Congress is much confident about winning more number of MPP and ZPs. The party's confidence has been boosted by the results of the Parliament elections and also the MLC polls.
The Congress, BJP and TRS have decided to be careful in the indirect polls to be held for the chairperson posts of MPPs and ZPs. As the elections would be held on party basis, they have the option of issuing whip to their members.
The three parties would select their whips after the announcement of the results of ZPTCs and MPTCs. The whips would issue notices on the dos and don'ts to the ZPTCs and MPTCs.
The whips would ask in writing that all the ZPTCs and MPTCs should be present in the voting and should participate in the election.
If they skip voting, they would be liable for disqualification. The Congress has appointed observers to each district to oversee the elections of the MPP and ZP chairpersons. The TRS has entrusted the responsibility to the Ministers and MLAs.
The parties have told the leaders of the Assembly constituencies and districts to keep the flock together after the announcement of the results of the ZPTCs and MPTCs.
