Karimnagar: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) district secretary Bandari Shekar on Monday demanded the government sanctioning of pending bills to municipal workers of merged villages of Huzurabad mandal.

The members of Telangana Municipal Workers and Employees Union in association with the CITU gave a strike notice to Municipal Commissioner G Venugopal Reddy here, demanding sanction of the pending bills to the municipal workers immediately. They also sought to fix the salary at Rs 17,500 as per GO No 14.

Speaking on the occasion, Bandari Shekar said that four villages - Borlapalli, Kothapalli, Eppalanarasingapuram and Dammakkapet - were merged with Huzurabad municipality. The municipal workers working in these four villages are facing lot of problems as they are not getting their salaries for the past one and half year.

Apart from this, they were not provided with facilities like clothes, chappals, oil, soaps and other materials. As per GO No.52, municipal workers must create sanitary workers groups, which was not done yet. Shekar said that the municipal workers would start strike from July 4 if the government will not resolve their issues.

Telangana Municipal Workers and Employees Union members D Kumar, J Rajesh, Narsaiah, Komaraiah, Shekar, Sammaiah, Susheela, Sammakka, Raju, Mogili, Raghupathi Rao, Tirupathi, Radhika, Kanakaiah, Pochaiah, Bondaiah, Raju, Ravi and Satish Kumar were present along with others.
