Warangal: CCS police on Friday arrested a six-member pickpocket gang and seized Rs 1,500 and four cell phones from their possession.

The accused are identified as KS Makkan, Mangaraj, Kamle Sikander, Londe Shiva and Matangi Anil Kamble, all residents of Hyderabad.

CCS Inspector P David Raju said that the accused who were habituated to bad habits formed a gang and started pick-pocketing in 2005. Even though the accused were arrested several times they continued pickpocketing to make easy money.

Recently, the gang resorted to pickpocket at electioneering in Azam Jahi Grounds. Following a complaint by one person who lost his purse during the public meeting, the CCS police launched a manhunt to nab the accused. The accused were arrested by the CCS police during vehicle check at Venkatrama Theatre in the city.
