PV Narasimha Rao birth anniversary: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has formally launched the year-long celebrations commemorating the birth centenary of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao at PV Jnanabhoomi at Necklace road in Hyderabad by paying floral tributes to the ninth Prime Minister of India.

PV Narasimha Rao birth anniversary: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has formally launched the year-long celebrations commemorating the birth centenary of former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao at PV Jnanabhoomi at Necklace road in Hyderabad by paying floral tributes to the ninth Prime Minister of India. Bhajan, kirtan and all religion prayer meeting were held later.

Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, ministers KT Rama Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Srinivas Goud, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao and Mayor Bonthu Rammohan were present.

It is already known that the CM has initially allocated Rs 10 crore for the celebrations and a committee headed by K Keshava Rao has been formed to oversee the celebrations. As a part of the celebrations, his statues will be installed in many towns in the state and photo exhibitions will be held in different places during the year.

Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao served as the ninth Indian Prime Minister between 1991 and 1996. Economic reforms introduced by him have liberalised the Indian economy such as reducing government control, restriction of subsidies, increasing investments in infrastructure and privatizing several public Industries.

He was born on June 28, 1921 in Laknepally village Narsampet mandal of Warangal district. His family later shifted to Vangara village in Karimnagar when he at the age of 3. He finished primary education in Karimnagar and later joined Osmania University to pursue a degree in Arts. He later went to Fergusson college in Pune of the University of Bombay. and Nagpur to pursue law.

Narasimha Rao ventured into politics by joining the Indian National Congress and then went on to become the Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 1971. In 1991, the Congress party picked Rao it's chief after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. He then took charge as the prime minister.

In 1996, he resigned as Prime Minister after the Congress party lost the parliamentary elections.
