Hyderabad: Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday alleged that atrocities on women are on the rise in the State.

Addressing the media, after the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, he said that two missing cases of women are being reported every day in the State.

The crime against women has been on the rise due to rampant sale of liquor in the state.

He said that the incidents of Disha in Hyderabad, Manasa in Warangal and Laxmi in Asifabad are heart rending ones. He expressed his deep sympathies to the families of the victims.

Vikramarka demanded the government to hang the culprits in these cases. He said that rampant sale of liquor in the State was the main reason for the rising atrocities on the women.

He demanded the government to close down the liquor shops which have been mushrooming in the state. He alleged that the police have been working for the benefit of the ruling party leaders.

The CLP leader explained that the government has received Rs 11,900 crores revenue through liquor sales in 2015, Rs 13000 crores in 2016, Rs 16,000 in 2017 and Rs 20,000 in 2018.

He said that the CLP meeting has condemned the hike of RTC bus fares. He wanted to know as to why the Chief Minister allowed for raise of fares while he announced that Rs 1,000 crore would be given by the government to RTC.

He criticised that the traffic problems are growing day by day in Hyderabad city. The flyovers built by few companies which have the patronage of ruling party are constructed without following the safety norms.

He said that the Congress would hold a candle light rally in Hyderabad on Saturday from Tankbund to Raj Bhavan and would meet the Governor after the rally.
