Rebel trouble for TRS as many file papers for Parishad polls
Many followers of former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who are opposing MLA Kandala Upender Reddy’s pick for Thirumalayapalem ZTPC, file their papers
Khammam: The local body elections are turning out to be stressful for the local leaders and parties, especially for the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, in the Khammam district.
Recently, a war for words broke out between the party's senior leaders and those who defected to the pink party with regard to issual of B-forms.
Further, the internal conflicts came into light after the rebels filed a huge number of nominations as a way of expressing their angst towards the party leaders.
After the end of nominations filing for the first phase, senior leaders of TRS have begun to convince the rebel candidates, who have filed their nominations in Thirumalayapalem and other territorial constituencies, to withdraw their papers.
It may be recalled that several rebels have filed their nominations for four ZPTC places of Paleru constituency. Of these, 83 TRS leaders filed their nominations for Thirumalayapalem ZPTC seat.
It is known that TRS high command handed over the responsibility of issuing B-forms for ZPTC and MPTC seats to local MLA Kandala Upender Reddy.
Former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was the in-charge for the constituency before Kandala joined the party. Now, the followers of Tummala are angry with Kandala stealing the opportunity to issue B-forms from their leader and also about offering the Thirumalayapalem's ZPTC ticket to Kandala Kranthi Kumar, who joined the TRS recently from New Democracy party.
The followers of Tummala feel betrayed over not being offered ZPTC or MPTC tickets despite working hard for the party from the beginning.
As an act of rebellion to Kandala's decision, the local leaders from Thirumalayapalem mandal filed a large number of nominations against the candidate proposed by the MLA.
TRS leaders Ramasahayam Naresh Reddy, Anjaneyulu and Chava Venu filed their nominations along with 83 other candidates.
Meanwhile, MLA Kandala Upender Reddy invited the rebels for a discussion, but in vain. However, all the MPTC rebels attended the meeting.
It is being reported that the MPTC rebels and the MLA found a middle ground with the MPTC candidates withdrawing their nominations.
However, the ZPTC rebels have gone to Hyderabad and brought the issue to the notice of party working president KT Rama Rao.
Efforts are being made to appease the rebels to withdraw their nominations on or before April 28. District Coordinator Ravula Shravan Kumar Reddy, State General Secretary Palla Rajeswar Reddy, State Secretary Thatha Madhu, District In charge Nukala Naresh Reddy and others are in talks with the rebels.
