Hanamkonda: Even though the evidence is clear-cut, why the government is dillydallying in trying the accused, who molested and killed a nine-month-old infant Srihitha, Mulugu MLA Seethakka alias Danasari Anasuya, said. Speaking at a round table conference that debated violence against women and the need for strengthening the existing legislations here on Thursday, she said that TRS government lacks commitment in providing security for women.

"The TRS leaders are more interested in celebrations rather than ensuring safety for women," Seethakka said, stating that it's not achieving Bangaru Telangana.

Further, she demanded the government to bring in a new legislation in the name of Srihitha.

Congress State official spokesperson Kuchana Ravali Reddy, who organised the round table conference, found fault with former Nizamabad MP K Kavitha for not reacting to the death of Srihitha. "It's unfortunate that Kavitha, who roams all around the world promoting Bathukamma, didn't even condemned the gruesome killing of Srihitha," Ravali alleged. The TRS leaders see women as just voters and nothing more than that, she alleged.

BJP leader Vijayalaxmi and advocate Padmaja demanded the government for strengthening the existing laws.

Seethakka and Ravali threatened to launch an agitation if the State government fails to provide a speedy justice to the parents of Srihitha. The leaders on the occasion unanimously formed Adapillala Parirakshana Committee (APC) with Ravali Reddy as its convener and Seethakka as its honorary president. The others – Vijayalakshmi (co-convener), Padmaja and social activist Kalyani (advisers), Sridevi, Sarala, Vanaparthy Padmavathy, K Anitha and D Karuna.
