Munugodu (Nalgonda): Munugodu Village Sarpanch Miriyala Venkanna of Nalgonda district on Thursday took up begging on the streets as part of his protest against the inaction of the government in empowering the Sarpanches with the cheque power though five month have passed since their election .
Speaking to the media on Thursday, he said Sarpanches in the State were unable to discharge their duties and satisfy minimum needs of public in their villages due to lack of cheque power. He felt that this movement would be an eye opener for the government which was functioning undemocratically with regard to Gram Swaraj in the State. He said along with other Sarpanches, he would intensify the protest if their demands were not met immediately.
