Kothagudem: In a shocker to the Election Commission and the district officials, the tribal voters of Garimellapadu gram panchayat decided to boycott the elections in support of their demands.

Nearly 200 voters working at a local nursery run by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency have been demanding regular work and payment of wages.

They alleged that the government which took away their lands offering jobs had failed to ensure regular work and wages.

Despite several representations submitted to local officials and Ministers, the problem remains unaddressed, said Jabba Ramulu, a villager.

Likewise, around 200 farmers at Suraram gram panchayat also threatened to boycott elections demanding the officials to address podu land issues they have been facing under Survey Number 166 of Suraram.

They staged a dharna on village premises on Wednesday and took an oath to boycott the polls.
