Siddhapur villagers boycott elections

Nagarkurnool: The villagers of Siddhapur have boycotted the ZPTC and MPTC elections on Tuesday as not a single person in the village came forward to vote during the last and final phase of elections. The main reasons for the villagers not participating in the elections is said to be that they are not happy with the government's attitude as it has not kept its promise of turning Siddhapur into a revenue mandal.

"We have repeatedly urged the District Collector, the Achampet MLA and to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to carve Siddhapur into a new mandal out of Achampet. However, they have not heeded to our request. When the government is not ready to listen to us and address our problems, what is the point in voting in the elections? We have lost our confidence in the elections as no peoples representative taking up our cause," said a resident of Siddhapur on condition of anonymity.
