Srirama Navami arrangements go on at brisk pace

Bhadrachalam: The arrangements for the Srirama Navami fete are going on at a brisk pace in the temple town. While the painting of the temple has already been completed, the pandals were set up in the key thoroughfares of the temple town.

The Brahmotsavams will start on Saturday (April 06) and conclude on April 21. While the celestial weeding of the Lord Rama would be performed on April 14, the coronation ceremony would be held the next day.

On Wednesday, Sub-Collector Bhavesh Mishra reviewed the arrangements and directed the officials of concerned departments to work in tandem to make fool proof arrangements for the 15-day fest.

He also directed the officials to expedite works as the time for the festival was nearing. Gram panchayat, Rural Water Supply, electricity, fire services, irrigation, medical and health, excise and fisheries officials took part in the meeting.

The duty passes to employees and workers have to be issued two days prior to the festival schedule. Since, devotees from across the nation and different parts of the world arrive here to attend the festival, every step should be taken for the success of the event, Mishra said.

He wanted supply of drinking water and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) sachets to devotees, installation of additional electricity transformers, setting up first aid centres, deploying of expert swimmers along river Godavari during the festival. The sale liquor must be stopped during three days of the Navami in the town.

Temple Executive Officer T Ramesh Babu informed that painting works and barricading works were under progress, while the works at the Kalyana Mandapam, where the celestial wedding would be performed, were completed.
