Hyderabad: State BJP leaders on Tuesday welcomed the fall of the Congress-JD(S) alliance Karnataka government headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Reacting to the fall of the coalition government in Karnataka, BJP leader Pongulate Sudhakar Reddy said it showed that the opportunistic politics cannot be pursued for long.

The Congress had committed a historical mistake by extending its support to the JD(S). In turn, now it is paying price for the same, he added.

Further, the Karnataka development is a slap in the face of the Grand Old Party which is in doldrums it is devoid of leadership.

BJP State chief official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said that the fall of the opportunistic alliance of Congress and JD(S) in Karnataka State has once again proved that governments which formed against the will and mandate of the people do not survive.

He said the BJP Telangana welcomed the development in Karnataka State and "We heartily wish BJP Karnataka unit and former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, would lead a successful and stable government in Karnataka.

The fall of Congress-JD(S) government is the victory of the original mandate of the people of Karnataka, he said.
