Hyderabad: The central leadership of BJP has restricted party cadre in Telangana from celebrating the abrogation of Article 370 on a big scale.

Unlike on other occasions, the State BJP leadership restrained from celebrating the passage of the bill to repeal Article 370 and doing away with Article 35(A) steered by its party chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior leader from the party said, "We anxiously waited for the moment the bill regarding abrogation of Article 370 to be passed in the Rajya Sabha.

We wanted to celebrate the occasion as the issue is not only a poll promise but is has been on the party agenda for the last 70 years from the Jana Sangh days. It was a befitting occasion for us to celebrate."

"The celebrations would also send a positive message boosting the morale of the party cadre and leaders across the State and elsewhere in the country," he added.

However, one senior leader of the party cautioned the State unit and told not to organise any celebrations in a big way.

Therefore, the party leaders wound up celebration by distributing sweets among themselves and the party cadre celebrating the occasion.

Other than giving statements terming the passage of the bills as a 'historic occasion' and giving credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah the party leaders have decided not to celebrate anything related to the scrapping of the Article 370 and Article 35(A) in open.
