Hyderabad: Congress MLA T Jagga Reddy on Thursday alleged that the State government was playing with the lives of the people by not preventing the spread of dengue.

He stated two to three members in every family were suffering from dengue fever and many cases were being reported from the slums in the State.

He said the dengue victims were forced to spend Rs 60,000 to Rs one lakh for treatment. Speaking to the media, Reddy wondered whether there was Medical and Health department in the State. He demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to include dengue fever in the State-run Aarogyasri scheme.

The Congress leader stated he would write a letter to the chief minister on the dreaded dengue fever and the problems being faced by the people after being affected by the disease.

He said his party was contemplating to launch Statewide protests on the issue if the State government fails to respond. The MLA said cancer patients in the State were forced to spend Rs one lakh to Rs 20 lakh for treatment.
