Nagarkurnool: Here is a tree in Zilla Parishad High School for girls in Nagarkurnool district, which is celebrating its 30th birthday.

Though it may look weird to learn that how can a tree celebrate its birthday? But the fact is , the school children of ZPHS at Nagarkurnool have celebrated the birthday of the 30-year-old 'Puli Chinta Chettu' on the high school's ground on Sunday.

Going into the details of the story behind the tree and why the school children are celebrating the birth day of this tree, way back in 2017 on 28th July, Nagarkurnool district had witnessed heavy rains with strong winds and storms. Because of this heavy storm, the Puli Chinta Chettu located in the ZPHS was uprooted and fell across the ground.

After which, the school authorities decided to axe the tree and cut it down and remove it from the ground as it was causing problems to the students as they did not have enough place in the ground for conducting prayer and other school programmes.

However, Yashoda Reddy, a teacher from the same school advised the school management not to cut the tree instead they can restore it by letting it stand on its roots. She informed the school management that there is a foundation, who are experts in restoring the uprooted trees and sought two days time from the school authorities so that she can call and invite the members of the foundation for the restoration.

The teacher later called the 'Vata Foundation' authorities and with their help she could successfully restore the uprooted tree and now the tree has got its life back and is living healthy with greenery leaves all across the ZPHS ground premises.

Since then, the school authorities have decided to celebrate the birthday of the tree and every year on July 28th the school children tie Rakhees and offer prayers at the tree and school authorities distributes sweets among the students and celebrate the birth day of the tree grandly.

"We are proud that our school could save the life of a tree, this tree has now has grown much stronger and greener than earlier and is giving cool shade to the students.

Marking the second year for its restoration, we have decided its second birthday. I feel that each and every individual must also try to protect the fallen trees."
