Students take to streets for want of teachers in Mahbubnagar
Over 190 students from government primary school for Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Jadcherla on Monday took to roads demanding the school education department to provide adequate number of teachers in their school.
Mahbubnagar: Over 190 students from government primary school for Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Jadcherla on Monday took to roads demanding the school education department to provide adequate number of teachers in their school.
According to sources, the Government ST school in Jadcherla mandal, which is having a total strength of 190 students at present, is run by only two teachers. Even among these two teachers, if anyone is on leave or when both of them are on leave, the entire school is closed causing great loss to students.
"We have been facing a tough time with no proper teaching faculty in our school for many years now. Our repeated requests with the Mandal Education Officer and even the District Education Officer have fallen on deaf ears. With no teaching faculty, we are losing our precious academic year and as a last resort we have come on to roads to demand the government to immediately provide teachers to our school," said the agitating students, led by the leaders of student organisations.
The students, who were also accompanied by the schoolteachers and some of the leaders of the student organisations, took out a rally from the school to Ambedkar crossroads and staged a sit-in.
During the protest they raised slogans demanding the government to heed to their request and provide adequate teachers to their school.
Meanwhile, the police who came to know about the students protest immediately swung into action and tried to convince the teachers and students, and dispersed them to clear the traffic.
