Hyderabad: The T-Consult app, which was launched on April 8 in Makthal Mandal of Narayanpet district, has received encouraging response from the people. So far, about 782 teleconsultations have been offered. The telemedicine facility has come as a breather in the times of lockdown.

The effort has covered around 39 villages in the Mandal and was appreciated by District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari. The project, in which software professionals' industry body Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) has played a key role in its implementation, will soon be extended to the entire district shortly.

Post its launch Makthal became the first Mandal in the country where all its villages have access to telemedicine facilities. TITA trained all the 39 gram panchayat secretaries, who now act as the nodal officers for the T-Consult project. All the gram panchayat offices in Makthal Mandal have been made into nodal offices for the telemedicine project. In all, 782 consultations have been offered through T-Consult even as the respective prescriptions have been sent to the patients online. The telemedicine facility has helped many in the villages.

TITA founder and global president Sandeep Kumar Makthala, who toured Makthal Mandal to seek feedback on the program, said it is coming to aid of people from across the segments. TITA will now focus on expanding the telemedicine project to the entire Narayanpet district shortly. TITA has also got a request to set up similar facilities in Yadadri Bhongir district. It will look to work on these lines as per the request of Yadadri Bhongir District Collector Anita Ramachandran. TITA will implement the same in other districts too if it is asked to do, said Makthala.

TITA has also received a request from Yadadri Bhongir District Collector Anitha Ramachandran to launch T-Consult in Yadadri-Bhongir. TITA said it will work on these lines.

Speaking on the success of the project, District Collector Hari Chandana asked TITA to extend the project in the entire district. The telemedicine project is addressing the issue linked to a lack of access to medical facilities, particularly in the times of the pandemic.

TITA members Sowmya, Shankar, Srikanth and others participated in the feedback gathering in Makthal.
