The Telangana assembly passed a resolution against Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) on Monday appealing the centre to remove all the references to any religion.

Besides CAA, the assembly also raised objections against the implementation of the National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). "Implementation of NPR and NRC might result in the exclusion of a large number of people. After the centre has proposed CAA, protests are continued all over the country. The issue has gone global and the world is looking at India for the solution," Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said.

The resolutions against CAA have also been passed by the states like West Bengal, Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi and Bihar. "A state plays an active role in building the nation and Telangana too contribute a lot to the nation in the form of taxes. We have the responsibility to ask the nation as it is the question of country's future," KCR said.

The centre should concentrate on farmer issues, unemployment and water problems rather than implementing such acts, he said adding that women and underprivileged will be mostly affected by the implementation of CAA.

"Even our constitution does not permit CAA and that is why we are opposing. We appeal the centre to review its stand," the chief minister said.
