Telangana detects one Covid positive case on every 16 tests
The State has so far conducted 22,842 Covid tests
Hyderabad: According to latest available data of Covid-19 sample testing in various States, Telangana has done 22,842 tests while the country's total figure stands at nearly 20 lakh.
Also, Telangana is conducting 16 tests to detect one positive case as per information available till May 14. If compared with other States, Maharashtra is conducting 9 sample tests to detect a single positive case while in case of Gujarat, one infection is confirmed for every 13 tests done.
States like Andhra Pradesh and Kerala are conducting 94 and 74 sample tests respectively to detect one single positive case.
Even if we look at global figures, countries like US and UK, one confirmed case is detected for every 7.4 tests. According to Public Health Director Dr G Srinivas Rao, it shows precision in selecting high risk contacts while taking them for testing.
If we look at number of tests done by various States, Tamil Nadu is at the top of the ladder with 2.79 lakh tests followed by Maharashtra at 2.30 lakh and Andhra Pradesh at 2.01 lakh. Kerala has done 39,380 tests till now.
