Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary to Education Chitra Ramachandran has stated that no college (Intermediate or Degree) would be allowed to function in a building not having No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Services department from the coming academic year.

She requested private junior and degree colleges' managements to cooperate in implementing the court orders on compliance of NOC from the Fire Services department.

Chitra convened a meeting of private junior and degree colleges' managements and their associations on Saturday. The college managements were informed about the High Court orders and names of list of colleges, that failed to produce the NOC.

It was the informed that these colleges have failed to produce the NOC and instead submitted the affidavit that they will shift another building next year. But this has not happened, and situation continued for the past few years.

Now, the High Court issued orders to take action against the defaulting colleges and to submit report by February 25, she stated. The managements were asked to find out ways on how to implement the orders of Court.

Secretary, BIE, Syed Omer Jaleel explained that production of NOC is a mandatory condition for granting affiliation to colleges.

It is of importance in this light of Supreme Court guidelines in respect of fire safety. College managements cannot put the lives of children at risk, he stressed.

College managements promised to follow the instructions of the Board and orders of the High Court and also sought time for a few days till the examinations are over.
