Hyderabad hosts around 1,500 New Year bashes every year. However, this year, the authorities have not yet given the permissions for pubs, bars and hotel for celebrations.

Dr G Srinivas Rao, director of public health said that they are worried about more coronavirus infections after the New Year celebrations as all sections of people will participate in parties. He said that the health department is writing to various wings in the state government to ban parties this year and also urged the people not to go out for parties and celebrate the New Year at home.

The health authorities stated that the efforts put by the government in controlling the coronavirus infections would go waste. "The coronavirus cases in the state have seen a drop in the last few weeks and if no proper measures are taken, all the efforts will go for a toss," said Srinivas Rao.
