Hyderabad: Telangana reported highest cases in a single day (253) so far eclipsing the previous highest of 209 cases from few days ago. This pushed the overall Covid tally of the sate to 4737.

Also, after TRS MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, four others including his wife Padmalatha, gunman, driver and cook were also found Covid positive.

While Muthireddy got admitted in Yashoda hospital, other four do not have major symptoms and were advised home isolation.

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan heaved a sigh of relief after Covid test report of him came out negative. He had undergone sample testing after his driver was found infected with the virus.

SC ST Commission chairman Erolla Srinivas gunman tested positive after which Srinivas went into home quarantine.

The fresh cases in last 24 hours were seen from 19 districts of the State. GHMC accounted the highest among new cases with 179, followed by Sangareddy ( 24), Medchal (14) and Ranga Reddy (11 cases). In Sangareddy, nearly 20 people got infected after attending a funeral recently.

Meanwhile, eight people have died taking the total Covid deaths in the State so far to 182.

In a significant development, the Union Health ministry has included two more symptoms -loss of smell (anosmia) or loss of taste (ageusia) to the Covid list. Also Remdesivir and Tocilizumab were recommended for treatment of smell and taste problems.
