As promised by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the retirement age of the employees working under the government sector is likely to get increased from 58 to 61 years from April 1, 2020.

However, it is yet to be decided after the chief minister takes a final call over the enhancement of retirement age. It is either increased to 61 or restricted to 60 years on a par with central government employees. A decision will be taken soon after the Pay Revision Commission submits the report.

Employees who are nearing to get retired are awaiting the chief minister's decision. Over 26,000 employees will get retired in the next three years, it is learned.

It is expected that the government will be saving Rs 3,500 crore per year by enhancing the superannuation age as it will not have to pay gratuity and other retirement benefits.
