State tally breaches 5,000 mark with 219 cases

Hyderabad: Telangana continues to register a high number of cases with 219 new ones reported on Monday pushing the overall tally past the 5000 mark. The good thing was that only two persons died of Covid in the past 24 hours.

GHMC limits as usual contributed the highest number of cases (189).

Till now 32 staff including 14 doctors and junior doctors combined and 18 medical staff from Government Maternity Hospital, Petlaburj have tested positive so far. From NIMS so far 47 tested positive including 22 doctors and resident doctors.

Another TRS MLA Ganesh Gupta (Nizamabad Urban) has tested positive becoming the third ruling party legislator to get infected. Meanwhile, MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy and Dr Gangadhar, technical expert in committee on Covid-19 have been sent to home quarantine after they were found to have mild symptoms.

With home isolation for Covid positive but with mild symptoms on the rise, the Telangana Health department has issued guidelines that would come in very handy for other members of the family. Also, till now 70 journalists have tested positive in Telangana.

Health Minister Eatala Rajender has constituted a panel comprising dieticians to recommend the best nutritious food to be given to Covid patients being treated in Gandhi and other State hospitals. He wanted them to suggest a rate so that patients are given nutritious meals, tiffins, snacks, dry fruits, tea and coffee every day.

Also, the medical recruitment board of the Telangana Health Department has issued a notification to appoint 499 posts including professors, associate professors, assistant professors in TIMS, Gachibowli on one-year contract basis. This apart, nearly 2,157 nurses are being recruited by one Harmony Consultancy on outsourcing basis to be deputed in various government hospitals across the State.
