Telangana State races ahead of AP in conduct of SET
- APSCHE officials claim delay due to Lok Sabha elections
- Change of guard further delayed decision on APSET-2019
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has taken lead in conduct of the State Eligibility Test(SET) this year whereas its AP counterpart is busy with several issues in wake of formation of the new government in the State.
According to sources, the TSCHE and APSCHE had conducted their respective SET examinations in 2018 in the month of June-July,2018, for which, both the State apex higher education entities had given notifications in the month of March 2018.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from the Andhra Pradesh State Education Department (APSED) said, "Notifications for the APSET-2018 and the TSSET-2018were issued with a difference of about three to five days.
While the APSET-2018 was held on July 1 and TSSET was held on July 15," he added. However, this time, while the TSCHE had gone ahead with the routine process of issuing notification for the TSSET-2019 on March 23 this year and examinations will be held on from July 5, for three days.
The APSCHE sources claimed that the delay is caused due to Lok Sabha elections. However, despite witnessing a series of elections for the last six months in the State, the TSCHE had initiated the process of conducting examinations.
When contacted officials in the TSCHE said, "elections and the model code of conduct have nothing to do with notification of the examination. Hence, we went ahead in issuing the notification as we had done earlier in holding the TSSET-2018."
Clarifying on this, a top official from the APSCHE said, "in principal approval is given to the conduct of the APSET-2019. But, a decision is yet to be taken and to assign the conduct of the APSET-2019 to a university," he added.
But, the real reason for the delay in taking a decision on the APSET-2019 is due to the change in the State government and confusion over the continuation of the top brass in thenominated positions.
Now, whether the newly going-to-be nominated members will be taking a decision and when it will happen remains a big question.
Meanwhile, the TSCHE is planning to announce its TSSET-2019 results by the end of August 2019, within a month of conducting the examination this July.
