Two coronavirus positive cases have been reported from Nirmal after being declared as a green zone. The two are migrant workers who returned to their native places in Nirmal from Mumbai.

A total of five people reached Nirmal from Mumbai and two of them tested positive for the coronavirus. While one hail from Nirmal town another belongs to Godalapampu village of Khanapur mandal. The two were shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for treatment and their family members have been sent to quarantine.

The officials also disinfected the areas and restricted the movement of people in the area.

Earlier, Nirmal District in Telangana had grabbed the headlines after several Markaz returnees tested positive for coronavirus. However, the district has not reported a single case thereafter. It was on April 12, two people returned Markaz infected with the virus. With the latest two new cases, the total number of cases touched 21.

On May 18, the Telangana High Court asked the officials to provide coronavirus status in Nirmal and Suryapet. The court ordered to provide the availability of COVID-19 testing laboratories in each district of the state. It also sought information on the number of people on whom the tests were performed since April 22.

The court asked the officials to keep a close watch on the migrants returning from Maharashtra and also ordered to perform tests on all the migrants and put them on quarantine.
