Hyderabad: Will the announcement of the first Pay Revision Commission be deferred again? This is the doubt that is being raised by employees' unions as the scheduled meeting of a three-member official committee to be chaired by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar with union representatives on Wednesday was cancelled.
Following instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to the official committee to hold meetings with employees' unions from January 6, the Chief Secretary had convened a meeting following the submission of the report by the PR Commission headed by retired IAS officer C R Biswal. The Chief Minister had asked the three-member committee to finalise the PRC by the third week of January but it now appears that it will be further delayed, a senior official told The Hans India. On record, officials said that the committee members were busy with their official activity and the meeting has been deferred. The chief secretary dedicated most of his time to sort out the long-pending promotions , transfers and posting of the employees in various departments during the past three days. The committee members – State Finance Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and Irrigation Secretary Rajat Kumar were also busy resolving the department related issues mainly the clearance of pending bills and according approvals to the new decision in the revamped State Water Resources department.
The union leaders pointed out that the government will have to give a copy of the PRC report to the representatives for a study before the meeting with the official committee. The unions also made a strong appeal to the government to provide the details of the recommendations made regarding the new pay structure. Till date, no official communication was received either to get the PRC report or the meeting, the unions said.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the official committee is planning to meet the CM and brief the main points of the PRC in a day or two. A clarity on holding meetings with employees' unions will come only after the CM and committee meeting is over. Sources said that the issue of financial burden on the state exchequer to be incurred after the enforcement of new PRC will take centre-stage during the meeting with the Chief Minister.
