Telangana: Woman gives birth to baby boy weighing 5.5 kg in Nirmal

A woman from Nirmal district in Telangana gave birth to a baby boy weighing 5.5 kg at the government hospital on Tuesday.

The woman, Neha, a native of Left Pochampadu of Soan Mandal in Nirmal delivered the baby through caesarean section. Dr Rajender, Saroja and Mamata are said to have suggested C-section after it turned out difficult for Neha to deliver the baby. Both mother and baby are in good health, the hospital authorities said.

The doctors said that a newborn baby weighing 5.5 kg is a rare occurrence.

Earlier this month, a woman from Bhadrachalam gave birth to a baby boy with a weight of 5.5 kg at a private hospital through caesarean section.

The record weight of a newborn in Telangana was 6 kg at Niloufer hospital in Hyderabad a few years ago. And the babies born in Bhadrachalam and Nirmal are considered as second in terms of birth weight.
